I spent last weekend in Calgary, and since it wasn’t my first time there I had a happy opportunity to walk around on my own pace, without a need to make it to the tower, Glenbow, Banff or other attractions, which I never can miss during my first visi

You know, it’s kinda odd. Jason Kenney hasn’t even taken office yet as premier of Alberta, yet the feeling I get both in the media and online is that he has already taken his place as the head of “The Resistance,” as Macleans characterized them.

Nobody should be upset at Estevan city council for voting to keep their take-home pay identical for the rest of this term. After all, if most of us were put in the same situation, we likely would have done the same thing.

There are certain things in my job that get me excited. Championships for local sports teams, awards ceremonies, historical announcements, big community events and city council meetings get my blood pumping. Numbers? I love numbers.

One evening a few of us gathered together to pray for various community needs.

Entering Tuesday’s Alberta provincial election, there wasn’t much doubt as to who would form the province’s next government. The question was: how big would the margin of victory be for the United Conservative Party (UCP)? We now have our answer.

There will be a need for volunteers this spring and summer to step forward and once again make Weyburn proud, as a number of our local organizations will be hosting events.

The recurring theme that we hear in Estevan is the need to diversify the economy. Most people know that we don’t have a choice any longer. We know that Units 4 and 5 are going to come offline eventually, whether it’s this year or in a few years.
