Weyburn Review

The Weyburn Golf Club held their annual Crocus Masters Men’s Open golf tournament on August 22 and 23.

Approximately 51 golfers came out to the Weyburn Golf Club to participate in the 2015 Edward Jones Senior Open golf tournament on August 20.

Weyburn's second Habitat for Humanity recipients were announced on August 21, at the City Centre Mall. They are Robert and Shieron Phillips, along with their four children, Sydnee, Kezziah, Ethan and Victoria.

The results of the Wheatland Senior Centre's activities from August 14 to August 20: Bridge: (Friday) First Berty Lou Dreis, second Basil Holyer and third Marion Brown.

On August 23, Weyburn Police Service were called to a report of an unconscious male on the walking path behind New City Gardens. The male was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested and lodged in cells until he was sober. No charges were laid.

The Southeast College is busy making preparations for its 17th annual Weyburn Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament.

The first meeting of the Crocus Quilters Guild will be Tuesday, September 1 at Grace United Church upper level, with social time starting at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting to start at 7:00 pm.

Environment Minister Herb Cox has announced a second free fishing weekend this summer on August 29 and 30, 2015. "Due to the extreme wildfire conditions earlier this summer, we are offering a second free fishing weekend," Cox said.

The August sale of petroleum and natural gas rights raised $3.0 million in revenue for the province, at an average price of $306 per hectare. After four sales in 2015, land sale revenues total $35.7 million.
