Russ Borrowman late of Weyburn passed away August 10, 2012 at the age of 77 years. Gordon Russell Borrowman was born on March 13, 1935 on the family farm in Lomond municipality.

Dorothy Joy Davis

Dorothy Davis, late of Weyburn, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2012, in the Weyburn General Hospital at the age of 81 years. Dorothy was born in Assiniboia on November 1, 1931.

Stock car racers compete in championships, Aug. 25

The Estevan Motor Speedway will have their championship night on Saturday, August 25. There will be also a regular race on Friday, August 24. There was a race at the Estevan Motor Speedway on August 10.

Dan Grant will return as head coach of the Beavers

The Weyburn Beavers will bring back Dan Grant as their head coach next summer. Grant took over the head coach position after Angelo Nicolosi was fired in early July.

Wanda Knutt

It is with great sorrow that the family of Wanda Knutt announce her passing on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the age of 88 years. Wanda was born June 23, 1924 in Poland. She immigrated to Canada with her family when she was three years old.

EDITORIAL: Rules sometimes need to be changed

People need to grieve in different ways, and often people want to remember and honour the memory of a passed loved one by caring for their grave site, including the placing of flowers on it to beautify the site.

Locals urge a total ban

Some members of the public in Weyburn have said they would rather that smoking was banned altogether at restaurants, and that the loophole allowing smoking on patio decks be closed.
