The Weyburn Co-op Board of Directors recently announced a donation-matching incentive program to raise funds for the Weyburn & District Hospital Foundation. The purpose of this program is to encourage members to donate to the hospital foundation.

Heart disease and stroke take one in three Canadians before their time. And it is the #1 killer of women in Canada, taking more female lives than all cancers combined. While those numbers are shocking, there is good news for Canadians.

With three and a half tables playing on January 2, Jim Brown and Jean Knibbs started off the year with a strong game finishing first. Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart placed second and Andy Goeres and George Gilles were third.

Malcolm McNeil, late of Weyburn passed away January 19, 2012, at the age of 88 years.

Mary Teresia Thiel (nee Neuberger) late of Regina, and formerly of Weyburn, passed away January 20, 2012 at the age of 77 years. Mary was born to John and Elizabeth Neuberger on August 15, 1934 in Bruno.

Ralph Robert Dechant late of Weyburn, passed away January 20, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Ralph was born to Reinhold and Hilda Dechant on December 28, 1918 at Colfax. He attended Diamond School in the Colfax district.

Olive Jean (nee Pettit) Cottingham passed away at The Weyburn Special Care Home on January 25, 2012 at the age of 101 years. Olive was born September 13, 1910 in Weyburn to Louis and Pearl Pettit.
