Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of November 28 to December 4: During the reporting period, the police attended 83 calls for service. *Several officers provided D.A.R.E. training classes to Grade 6 students. D.A.R.E.

Saskatchewan will be contributing $150,000 to the fight against mountain pine beetle in Alberta.

Howard Georgeson, Chief of Police of the Weyburn Police Service, has announced his resignation, effective the end of 2011. Georgeson expressed a desire to be closer to his family in Prince Albert.

The Wings battled the second place Notre Dame Hounds on November 28 and came up with a big 3-2 victory. The Wings spotted the Hounds' two goals before rallying to take the win.

University of Regina Rams third-year offensive lineman Brett Jones, of Weyburn, capped off his 2011 season by adding a pair of team awards to his already impressive résumé at the Rams' awards banquet on December 1.

The Weyburn Chamber of Commerce celebrated the holiday season with the 18th annual Parade of Lights on December 1. The streets were filled with families who enjoyed the floats as well as hand-delivered candy.

Weyburn Mayor Debra Button and Don Shumlich, manager of the Weyburn Credit Union, recently announced a friendly competition to collect food for the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train.

Nearly 700 people were served at the fowl supper on November 29 and all proceeds went to support SRC activities.
