The Weyburn Co-operative Playschool held a fundraiser "Pumpkin Patch" event at their new location at Grace United Church, on Saturday afternoon, including pumpkins for sale, face-painting, tattoos, games and horse rides.

The class choirs from Legacy Park Elementary School each performed two songs at a school assembly on Friday afternoon, as they prepare to sing at the Weyburn Communithon fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Weyburn Legion Hall. With live performances back for Communithon, each class from Legacy Park will be performing, with the two oldest grades using recorders, drums and boom-whackers in their performances, all led by music teacher Holly Butz.

Precipitation is expected to start as rain and later shift to snow.

There is no admission for the event, but as it’s a fundraiser, organizers encourage people to buy a pumpkin, or donate to the playschool.

A Family Night celebration was held at Assiniboia Park Elementary School on Wednesday as part of Education Week. The evening included choir performances and taco-in-a-bag in the gym, an open house for the classrooms, and a book fair in the school library.

The location of Mayhem Manor and the charities that will be supported by fundraising for will both be announced on opening day, he added.
