Weyburn Review

Organizers of TheatreFest, the provincial theatre competition, are asking for volunteers to step forward to help them out during the week-long festival of community theatre in Weyburn on April 1-8 at the Cugnet Centre.

With the large snowfall police were called to numerous accidents in the city, though no injuries were reported. Police also received several reports of vehicles being stuck.

Tad Milmine, a Calgary police officer (left), spoke about bullying to students from Grades 6-9 in a presentation called, “Bullying Ends Here”, on Friday morning at the Cugnet Centre.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club plays on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and on Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre. All bridge players are welcome to come and play duplicate bridge.

Couples danced 50s style to the song, “Let’s Go To the Hop”, played by the Moose Jaw band, The Bromantics, during the Sock Hop held on Saturday evening as a fundraiser for the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation at McKenna Hall.

The Wheatland Senior Centre will hold a pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the centre, located at 888 First Avenue NE. The cost is $7 per person, which includes pancakes, sausages, coffee and juice.

The clothes and music of the 1950s will be the focus of the sock hop to be held by the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation on Saturday, March 10, at McKenna Hall.

The Weyburn Concert Series released the lineup for its 50th anniversary season, with promises of a Canadian superstar to be announced later as part of the list of entertainers who will be coming to Weyburn.
