Seven athletes from the Airbourne Gymnastics Club in Weyburn attended provincial championships in Prince Albert on May 11-13, and brought home a total of seven medals. In the junior Olympic level 3 (2007) group, there was one athlete competing.

With the May long weekend over, we are now in “summer mode” for traveling, camping and everything else that goes with summertime in Canada, including driving on our highways for summer vacation or to visit family and friends.

Weyburn Element Beavers AAA Mosquito played two doubleheaders on the weekend. On Saturday, they beat the Lumsden Cubs 9-8 in their first game, and then lost 20-13 in game 2.

The City of Weyburn will focus on city parks and on hazardous waste collection, with events set for Saturday, June 2, for the public to take part in. Trails Day will be held at River Park from 1 to 4 p.m.

Two upcoming events for members of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce will focus on politics and sports. In the realm of politics, a Saskatchewan Party round-table discussion will be held with chamber members on Friday, June 1, starting at 11 a.m.

Southeast College students received $35,150 in scholarships and bursaries at the college’s Industry-Education Luncheon, held on May 15 at the Weyburn Legion Hall.
