Aspiring authors and artists were encouraged to follow their dreams and write or draw, even if they’re only 10 years old, Grades 5 and 6 students at St. Michael School were told by children’s author Stephan Kozan on Thursday.

Students from St. Michael School will be doing “chores for charity” in support of the “Mending Little Hearts Fund”, after fellow student Brasen Sim told them about his own heart condition, along with his sister Ember.

Programs and special activities for children and adults are set for the Weyburn Public Library through the month of February.

Mid-school year funding of $7.5 million will be provided to school divisions to assist in dealing with front line pressures, Premier Scott Moe announced on Feb. 6. The funding will allow school divisions to hire education professionals immediately.

The annual McLeod Basketball Series against Estevan will be held in Weyburn on Tuesday, February 13. The games will start at 5:30 p.m. The Estevan part of the home-and-home series was hosted on February 6.

The 2018 edition of the Olympic Winter Games is underway in PyeongChang, South Korea, bringing together athletes and coaches from around the world to compete for national pride and Olympic glory.
