REGINA - The City of Regina is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
The watch was issued at 11:31 a.m. on Tuesday., According to Environment Canada, conditions are favourable for development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Environment Canada says an approaching trough of low pressure is triggering scattered thunderstorms this afternoon across eastern Saskatchewan and western Manitoba, and some of these may reach severe thresholds. The location is southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba.
The time of the storms is expected to be in the afternoon and evening.
Hazards include 90 km/h wind gusts, 50 to 70 mm per hour rainfall and gold ball sized hail. The threat for severe thunderstorms will diminish late this evening.
