After almost a month with bone-dry weather, Flin Flon finally has some rainfall.

Customers are being asked to access communication services only as needed to prevent network congestion.

PRINCE ALBERT — The Saskatchewan government is boosting support it's giving to wildfire evacuees, while officials say light rain and cooler temperatures this weekend could help keep some of the province's larger fires in check.

MONTREAL — Poor air quality fuelled by wildfires burning across the Prairies left a large swath of the country enveloped in a haze again on Saturday, but Environment Canada said the situation is expected to improve over the weekend.

As of yesterday, there were 24 active wildfires in Saskatchewan and 33 communities have evacuated.

The warning was in effect for most of southern Saskatchewan and elsewhere in the province.

With the wind still blowing, and more "showers" than "rain" forecast, it may not be the kind of precipitation we need.

A state of emergency and voluntary evacuation are in effect for the Resort Village of Candle Lake. SPSA says the fire could reach the village in three to 10 days.

The Lac La Ronge region remains under a mandatory evacuation as dangerous wildfire conditions persist, with only essential personnel allowed entry.

Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach, Pelican Narrows, Cranberry Portage and all nearby cabin and camping areas are still under full evacuation orders
