REGINA — Saskatchewan's government says it's bringing in crews from other provinces and countries to fight raging wildfires, as more people have been forced to flee their homes.

Essential services are able to get through Hwy 155 but it is otherwise closed to the public.

HALIFAX — Nova Scotia is sending a team of firefighters to help with out-of-control wildfires in Saskatchewan for the second time this wildfire season.

The Community Resilience Centre is located at the Denareplex, 1700 Wigwam Drive, and runs from noon to 9 p.m., and again tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon.

Eight communities in Saskatchewan remain under evacuation orders.

OTTAWA — The wildfires that are flaring up across Canada again are one of the reasons public safety should be added to CBC/Radio-Canada’s mandate, a new report from a research centre at McGill University argues.

Forty firefighters from Australia have arrived and another forty will be joining from Mexico later this week; also help coming from Quebec.

Lt. Justin Herod and Firefighters Austin Dovell, Nolan LaCoste and Colby Wainman left early July 14 to the hamlet of Patuanak.

Buhl Wildfire is 40 kilometres from the townsite.
