A wildfire near Weyakwin continues to burn out of control, prompting evacuations and a provincewide fire ban due to extreme risk.

They began in Weyakwin, then moved to Nelson Bay, Ramsey Bay, Malanosa, Timber Bay and areas along Montreal Lake.

A provincial fire ban was issued July 10 for the area between the provincial forest boundary and the Churchill River due to fire risk.

Three firefighters from the Oxbow area and one from Carnduff are working to protect northern communities.

Watch for the early signs of heat exhaustion. Signs may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.

Four communities remain under an evacuation order: Resort Subdivision of Lac La Plonge, La Plonge Reserve, Northern Village of Beauval and Kinoosao.  

On June 4 at approximately 11 a.m., Saskatchewan RCMP received a report that a vehicle had been stolen from a home in La Ronge.

Sask. has pledged $20M to support wildfire-ravaged communities, focusing on clean-up, landfills and mental health services.
