Here we are once again approaching the start of another school year. Packing kids lunches is a chore for many, and sometimes one can lose sight of nutritional value due to heavily marketed convenience foods.

A source of many happy and lasting memories, family cottages are often passed down from one generation to the next. Ensuring a successful transition however, depends in large part, on how important tax and legal issues are addressed.

This year, there is extensive construction on highway 10 between Fort Qu'appelle and Balgonie. A new passing lane is being installed, which is welcome, since the road does have a fair amount of traffic, much of it coming from right here in Yorkton.

Awareness key to prevent

To the Editor: Millions of children are back to school. But not in many countries in sub-Saharan Africa, Asia or the Middle East. Around the world, almost 57 million elementary school-aged children - especially girls - don't go to school at all.

With sweltering heat giving the province high temperatures, the competition at Deer Park Golf Course also heated up as the course hosted Saskatchewan's mixed doubles golf championship over the weekend.

There may be challenges but it's a good time for Yorkton and for the province as a whole.

To the Editor: The government is just past the half-way point in its current term. There's nothing of great consequence on its Parliamentary agenda and no clear mission to be accomplished.

The Godfrey Dean Art Gallery recently held an artist reception for its two current exhibitions. In attendance were artist Jeanne Mah and members of the Mark family, formerly of Yorkton, who were part of the TRAIN: les Arrivées as artist and subject.
