The Kam Busters Car Club eighth annual Prairie Thunder Drag Races were held Sunday at the Yorkton Airport on what may well have been the hottest day of the summer.

The Yorkton Orioles, a men's masters baseball team, captured a silver medal at the recent provincial masters' baseball tournament at Watrous in only its first year of existence. The 24 team tournament had teams placed in pools of three to start.

Yorkton speed swimmer Jennifer Haczkewicz, 11, just returned from the biggest competition of her speed swimming career. Haczkewicz swam at the ManSask Long Course Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Former junior drag racing champ, Brooklyn Fiesel of Melville, was on hands to defend her title at the eighth annual Kam Busters Prairie Thunder Drags. Unfortunately for the young racer motor problems kept her off the podium this year.

Ed, my neighbor next door, can be very blunt. The other day I asked Ed if he wanted to work at Wal-mart. They have been having job fairs presently, looking for workers at our store.

To the Editor The Agriculture Ministers from BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan recently sang songs of praise and adulation for the federal government's plan to give producers marketing choice for wheat, durum and barley.

To the Editor Mr. Ritz criticized Bruce Johnson for doing some research on the CWB operation and coming up with several questions which Ritz failed to answer. We must remember both he and Mr. Harper have said many times they would kill the CWB.

The Western Major Baseball League (WMBL) Yorkton Cardinals aren't tossing in the towel yet. The team which has been the East Division basement dweller all season, has shown flashes of talent recently.

Imagine, if you will, going to a new film, one you have been anticipating for a few weeks and are excited about seeing.

To the Editor: The Government's move towards unilaterally dismantling the single desk of the Canadian Wheat Board is gaining momentum, and the outcry from farmers is growing louder and more desperate.
