New crop technology facility coming

The Yorkton Terriers were on the road again this weekend, splitting a pair of games with the Flin Flon Bombers. Friday night, the Terriers were outshot 34-22 to fall to the Flin Flon Bombers at the Whitney Forum.

The 22nd annual Grain Millers Harvest Showdown returned to Yorkton with some changes this year. The first, perhaps most noticeable change was the extra day added to the event, notes Penny Sandercock, Yorkton Exhibition Board president.

One of the new events at the recent Grain Millers Harvest Showdown this year was the chore horse competition. Yorkton Exhibition Board president, Penny Sandercock, says several local farmers brought in their chore teams.

Each year, from November 5 to 11, Canadians join together to celebrate Veterans' Week.

Selling things is a talent, something which is vital for being a successful auctioneer. At Yorkton's recent Harvest Showdown event, auctioneers from far and wide came to put their skills to the test and see who would be judged the best of the bunch.

Another event introduced to the 22nd Grain Millers Harvest Showdown was the horse pulling competition.

The Yorkton New Holland Harvest Showdown Rodeo took place over two days at the Gallagher Centre Farrell Agencies Arena. Cowboys and cowgirls competed over the two days both for cash prizes and points toward the 2011 rodeo season.

The direction of the City of Yorkton is driven by the people, and the recent Yorkton 2020 Community Strategic Planning Conference is part of the way the community can guide the city.
