A team made up of Zuravloff family members won the A event of the Canora Town and Country Bonspiel held at the Sylvia Fedoruk Center from January 23 to 27, which seemed fitting, since the event is known for a strong focus on family participation.

In the 12th year of the Canola challenge, the king drives away in a brand new Chevrolet Silverado. Fedorchuk Farms Ltd. from Norquay has been “crowned” Prairie Soil Services 2018 Canola King Champion. Grant Fedorchuk achieved a gross/ac of $829.

Sufficient snow fall to this point in the winter has kept Good Spirit Cross Country Ski Club members busy enjoying the trails. Darryl Stevenson, club president, said the club’s Annual General Meeting was held in mid October.

The Canora/Strugis RCMP members are investigating an incident that took place at the Chechow Church in Preeceville on November 22 and November 24. The church bells located inside the bell house were taken.

Town Council approved the purchase of a new mobility vehicle and authorized the Canora Gun Club to make modifications to the gun range at its regular meeting on January 22.

The Canora Economic Development Commission (CEDC) held a meeting at the Town of Canora office on January 23. Ben Sipple, community development officer and CEDC member, led the meeting.

Two rinks from Canora Composite School (CCS) were entered in the Canora Curling Club High School Bonspiel on January 12, and each placed in the top three. The CCS senior team finished first, said Cindy Smith, CCS principal.

Fred Perepiolkin and his curling team of Glen Becenko, Nolan Nykolaishen and Connor Bodnaryk played very well in Kamsack January 11, first defeating Duck Mountain Super League (DMSL) defending champion Rick Kinaschuk of Benito in a semi-final match,

The Ron Hoehn rink of Canora captured first place at the Canora Senior Bonspiel, held from January 14 to 17 at the Sylvia Fedoruk Centre.

Remco Memorials, based in Regina, has made a donation of $3,000 to support Shawna Leson of Canora, a core rider for Prairie Women on Snowmobiles (PWOS) Mission 2019.
