Invermay School graduation was held on June 29, with the theme, “This is the beginning of anything you want.” The 2016 Governor General’s Award was won by Brittany Kowalyshyn.

Teachers, family and friends came together to honour 16 graduates at the Canora Composite School exercises on June 29.

Joshua Prychak of Canora competed at the Solestice Classic youth track-and-field event in Saskatoon on June 17, which was put on by Saskatchewan Athletics.

Rebecca Hort and Hudson Bailey, Canora Composite School students, traveled to Regina to participate in the provincial track championships on June 10-11.

For the first time in recent memory, Canora has hosted minor baseball playoffs.

For as long as the National Doukhobor Heritage Village has existed in Veregin, the third Sunday in July was reserved as Heritage Day, a day to celebrate Doukhobor Heritage by way of prayers, food, tours and a cultural program.
