When Calin Bugera of Rhein was asked if he wanted to take part in a July hunting trip in South Africa, it didn’t take him long to say yes, he said in an interview last week after returning from the trip.

Lei Meilin is the new owner of Gateway Service, located on Highway No. 9 at the south end of Canora. Meilin and his family, including wife Selina, son Mike, 20 and daughter Vicky, 10, moved to Canora and took over the business on August 1.

An outdoor non-denominational church service on July 16 at the town hall started the week-long Canora in Bloom celebration. Rev. Brett Watson welcomed the gathering for the church service to kick off Canora in Bloom.

The CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up tree planting ceremony took place at the Chase Kraynick Splash Park on July 17, during Canora in Bloom.

After months of planning and preparation, the Canora in Bloom and Canada 150 celebration took place in Canora from July 16 to 22.
