Reports on the CBC last month regarding incidents of HIV infection in Saskatchewan, and by extension in the Kamsack area, are more a reflection of a healthy community than a cause for concern, Mayor Nancy Brunt said last week.

When Santa Claus comes to Kamsack in only three weeks from now, although he won’t be bringing any of his reindeer with him, he will be greeted in style with a lot more happening at a larger location.

A new group of Kamsack residents, who see themselves as “the ears on the ground” for the recreation department in order to take ideas from people about how to improve recreation opportunities and facilities in town, has begun its work.

Beginning on November 22 and for each of the 40 days thereafter a photograph of a Kamsack woman will be shown on a billboard in Times Square in New York City.

Hard work and great help from volunteers paid off on October 21 for the Eaglestone Lodge seniors’ care facility in Kamsack.

Ken Thompson, the deputy fire chief for the Kamsack Volunteer Fire Department, was the special guest at a fire prevention assembly at Victoria School on Friday.

In less than two weeks a new bus service will have begun, transporting passengers from Kamsack and Canora to Yorkton and Regina.
