A Grade 8 student at Norquay School, who has played with Kamsack Minor Hockey teams, is preparing to go to Europe in July as a member of a Select female hockey team.

“Volunteers have compassion and the ability to be nonjudgmental as all feel welcome and part of our family,” Karen Rubletz, recreation co-ordinator, said during the volunteer appreciation event held at the Kamsack Nursing Home on April 26.

More than 1,000 district residents signed their names to a petition that was circulated in Kamsack during April calling for the provincial government to take steps to continue “to provide safe, affordable and accessible bus service” in Saskatchewan.

Representatives of seven of the nine members of the Seneca Root Museum Association met in Kamsack last week for the first of two meetings the association has each year.

More than 60 youngsters aged four years and up were registered as of last week to play with Kamsack Minor Ball this season, which began Monday.

At least three organized groups of soccer players will be active beginning this week: the year-round soccer players who will be moving out-of-doors; a mini-soccer group, and an after-school soccer program.

Because of Canada’s 150 th anniversary this year, special emphasis is being placed on the July 1 celebration in Kamsack.
