While the many piles of snow were still being removed from Kamsack streets and properties last week, praise was still being heaped on the equipment operators who had worked long hours during and after the blizzard of March 6, 7 and 8.

A total of six teams took to the ice on March 11 when the IP Kamsack Flyers team hosted their first tournament of the season at the Broda Sportsplex.

The parents of the IP Flyers suited up in Togo Terriers’ jerseys and took to the ice on March 16 at the Broda Sportsplex in a game against their squirts. Wearing their red jerseys, the Flyers chanted “Let’s go Flyers, let’s go!” and the game was on.

A provincial high school championship won this month is proof that the long shadow of a dedicated Kamsack coach is still being felt.

A Norquay rink won the A event of the Canora Men’s Bonspiel played March 8 to 12 among 16 rinks. Ken Newell of Norquay curled with Zach Newell, third; Evan Rostoski, second, and Kevin Ebert, lead, won the A event.

Members of the Togo Figure Skating club and their parents transformed the Togo Centennial Arena into a Grammy Awards theatre, complete with a wall covered in gold records.

A journeyman technician with 15 years experience in the automotive trade and a second-year apprentice technician have joined together to open a new automotive repair and detailing business in Kamsack.

Two Kamsack-area men were fined $3,000 in provincial court after pleading guilty to poaching and night hunting offences.
