Canada Day celebrations attracted residents of Yorkton and surrounding areas to the Western Development Museum over the weekend for a full afternoon of activities for all ages.

Fitness equipment is being installed in Erichsen Park as a legacy to Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association programming held in the city in past years.

The excitement of outdoor rodeo returns to Yorkton this August. Monday the Painted Hand Casino (PHC) announced it will host the 'Counting Coup CCA Rough Stock Rodeo'.

Yorkton Council has approved a tender to begin what is essentially Phase I of the Dracup Avenue Drainage Project. At its regular meeting June 27 Council learned the City had received four tenders for the project ranging from $663,237 to the winner R.

Canadian Red Cross and SaskCentral today announced that effective immediately, cash donations to help Saskatchewan residents devastated by recent disasters will be accepted at participating Saskatchewan credit unions until July 22, 2011.

A Yorkton firefighter injured on the job in June is currently recovering. "We were at a structure fire at 75 Agriculture on June 13," recounts Yorkton Fire Protective Services Chief Dean Clark.

Residents of Saskatchewan are urged to take personal protection measures to guard against an expected increase in the number of Culex tarsalis mosquitoes, the species that carries West Nile Virus.

Canada Day weekend celebrations were in full swing at the Saltcoats District Regional Park for the 123rd consecutive year. The event has had a strong sports emphasis since it's emergence in 1888.
