Judge suspends theft sentence

A 23-year-old Yorkton cashier has received a suspended sentence for stealing almost $3,000 from her employer. Neha Shah pleaded guilty to two counts of theft from Walmart in Yorkton Provincial Court on September 8.

Council approves 6% tax hike

The City of Yorkton's Operating and Capital Budgets were both passed at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday. The budgets were both initially discussed earlier this year, and were again reviewed in a Committee of the Whole meeting Monday.

Drainage plan for west side

The Yorkton West Drainage City Wide Stormwater Model Report was presented to the regular meeting of Council Monday. The Model created through work by Engineering Services would come with a major price tag if fully implemented.

Province's unemployment low

Saskatchewan's unemployment rate has been the lowest in Canada for 20 consecutive months. According to new labour force data released today for August 2014, the unemployment rate was 4.2 per cent (seasonally adjusted).
