Decoration Day services were held at the Canora Cemetery on June 5 by members of the Canora branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.

The grades 6 and 7 social studies students at Canora Composite School held their annual International Bazaar.

The St. James Anglican Church congregation of Endeavour held its annual Church Mouse sale at the Endeavour Skating Arena on June 10, 11 and 12. “The annual event is very time consuming,” said Kathy Ambrose, one of the co-ordinators for the event.

Preeceville Nursery School students from the four-year-old and three-year-old classes were all acknowledged for their hard work throughout the year during a graduation day on May 31. Lori Newton was the teacher for the school year.

( see photo gallery below ) A piano recital at the Preeceville Trinity United Church on July 5 showcased the talent of the six students instructed by Bonnie Lisitza. Britney Vewchar performed Moonlight on the Water and The Stormy Sea.

The Canadian Cancer Society was granted an extension to the City’s Noise Bylaw for its upcoming Relay for Life. “We are requesting an extension of the Noise Bylaw as our event runs from 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17 to 7:00 a.m.

The City of Yorkton is beginning the process of readying for this fall’s municipal elections. General Municipal Elections are legislated to occur every four years, with the next one to be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016.

Yorkton Council began the process to expand allowable uses in the Institutional Zone by amending the City’s Zoning Bylaw.
