Woman who threatened police arrested

Saskatoon Police Service officers were threatened with a knife by a female suspect.

SASKATOON — A knife-wielding female was arrested on Monday as she caused a disturbance in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South.

The 18-year-old woman, who is from the city, is now facing several charges following a report received by Saskatoon Police Service of an armed person in the vicinity.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., SPS officers were called to a building in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue South. They located the woman, who threatened officers with the knife.

A conducted energy weapon was deployed but had no effect on the woman, who then threw the knife at officers. She was taken into custody at that time and no injuries were reported.

The woman is facing charges of Assault Peace Officer, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Breach of Undertaking.

The incident will be reviewed in accordance with policy.
