For a second year, seniors in Norquay will benefit from the “Sleigh Bells for Seniors Project”, but the area has been extended for this year.

The Sturgis branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation hosted its annual antler measuring event at the Sturgis Arena on December 9 when club members took in 18 sets of antlers and one bear skull to be scored.

Teen Bingo was held at the Canora Civic Centre on November 27, in conjunction with the Winter Family Skate. (see next week’s Canora Courier for pictures of Skating with Santa.

After winning the 2018 Saskatchewan Outstanding Young Farmer award in June, Jordan and Jennifer Lindgren and family attended the Outstanding Young Farmer Program National Recognition Event in Winnipeg from November 27 to December 2.

Children and adults alike enjoyed skating alongside Santa Claus in the Skate with Santa event in Preeceville on December 7. “It was a great time for everyone,” said Andrea Tonn, recreation co-ordinator.

Carey and LeeAnn Weinbender and family, who own and operate Sliding Hills Charolais near Canora, won the 2018 Farmer Recognition Award at Harvest Showdown on November 8 in Yorkton.

A doctor who was raised in Kamsack, and spent a career spanning decades practicing medicine in Kamsack, has retired. A staff appreciation retirement party was held for Dr.

Ollie Maksymiw of Preeceville said a tearful goodbye to her Ukrainian relatives while in Ternopil, Ukraine from October 2 to 20. "The trip was bittersweet as this will likely be the last time that I will be making the trip there,” said Maksymiw.

The tax concession policy for 2019 and the reopening of the back lane to Gateway Co-op were among the items of concern to town council at its regular meeting on December 4.

The Kamsack and District Nursing Home (KDNH) auxiliary has been recognized by an organization dedicated to celebrating seniors. The Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism (SSM) is a non-profit, volunteer organization.
