The purchase of a grader, improvements to the water treatment plant, and an agreement with a new doctor in Canora were all discussed at recent town council meetings.

The RM of Good Lake had one seat to fill after nominations took place on September 21. The seat for councillor of Div. 2 was open, with two newcomers, James Morton and Larry Kopan, competing.

Producers have been struggling since the beginning of October to finish the last of harvest, but only slight progress has been accomplished.

Only one poll was required for the RM of Sliding Hills, and when votes were tallied on October 26, results indicated that the council for the municipality will remain the same.

Ballots for two polls were counted on October 26, and the RM of Keys now has an incumbent reeve as well as one incumbent councillor and two new councillors. A total of 272 votes were submitted in the RM of Keys’ election for reeve.

Canora Composite School students were among the 12,000 students across the province who, despite being under the voting age, cast ballots for municipal elections as part of the Student Vote program.

The first concert put on by the Canora Arts Council was far from disappointing for both fans and for the council.

The entertainment is always top notch when local musicians entertain members and guests at the PALS jam session and Friday night supper. Elaine Swiderski was the 50/50 winner on October 21 at the PALS building on Front Street.
