The tenth annual Lamplighter Loppet was again hosted by the Good Spirit Cross Country Ski Club on February 8.

A racquetball tournament was held in Yorkton by Saskatchewan Racquetball, and the high-octane sport drew some intense competition and a great turnout.

The Yorkton Curling Club hosted its annual Senior Bonspiel Feb. 17 to 21. When the final rocks were thrown Friday afternoon the Bernie Trischuk team had topped the event taking the ‘A’ side final. The Lorne Fruin foursome took the ‘B’ event.

The Preeceville Pats bantam hockey team ended its provincial run with a fierce battle against the Melfort Mustangs at home on February 5 in front of an enthusiastic home- town crowd. The first game saw the Pats traveling to Melfort on January 26.

Keenan Taphorn, a member of the Yorkton Hyundai Terriers has been named Canalta Hotels Saskatchewan Hockey League Player of the Week.

Curling is well represented in Yorkton, and the Senior’s curling bonspiel was held this weekend at the Yorkton Curling Club.
