Event helps to raise awareness about mental illness

The Yorkton Hyundai Terriers put on a solid game Friday night, finishing up with final score of 4-3 against the the Weyburn Red Wings.

Due to the rain and icy roads on January 25, the Preeceville Pats midget and bantam hockey teams were unable to play at Canora Minor Hockey day and had rescheduled the games for January 30 at the Canora Civic Arena.

Canora Minor Hockey Day was held on January 25, giving local minor hockey players an opportunity to play in front of family, friends and fans from Canora and the surrounding area. Unfortunately, the day did not go exactly as planned.

There was a momentary sense of withdrawal Jan. 25 when turning on the television and realizing Hockey Night in Canada was not a real game, but rather the cartoon that is the NHL all-star game.

Three football players from the Yorkton Gridders are headed to Texas. Members of two different Saskatchewan Selects teams, Royce Rathgeber and Jordanna Watrych are on the 12U team, while Jaxon Boyda will be part of the 16U team.

After an extended break from Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action the Yorkton Hyundai Terriers were back in action tonight.

After claiming three of the top five spots in the Preeceville Seniors’ Bonspiel earlier in the month, teams from Canora and area swept the top three positions at the Canora Seniors’ Bonspiel on January 20 to 23.

The Viterra Scotties were held in Melville at the Horizon Credit Union Centre, and you could feel the electricity in the air as the province's best curlers prepared to battle it out.

You might have witnessed a future Pinty's or Viterra Scotties champion on the ice this weekend as Saskatchewan students represented their sport.
