It was a banner night all around for the reigning NLL champion Saskatchewan Rush.

The ServiceMaster Clean Birdie Bash Disc Golf Tournament was held Saturday Dec. 22, at the Patrick Park Disc Golf Course in Yorkton. Entry fee was a non-perishable food donation for the Yorkton Food Bank.

The Yorkton Snap-On Tools Midget Terriers and the Yorkton RE/MAX Blue Chip Midget Terriers met on the ice at the Farrell Agencies Arena for the last hockey game in Yorkton in 2018.

Sunday was the Yorkton half of the traditional New Year’s match-up between the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Terriers and the rival Melville Millionaires.

The Highway #10 rivals met again New Year’s Day afternoon at the Horizon Credit Union Centre in Melville. The Millionaires started quickly on home ice with Daniel Liberty scoring a powerplay marker only 4:15 into the frame.

The Saskatchewan Rush opened the 2019 NLL season with a comeback bid that fell just short Friday night in New England.

After a lengthy hiatus caused by the closure of the Royal Canadian Legion lounge, the former home of the Yorkton Steel-Tip Darts Club, the group is back in action. The group has a new home at Tapps Sports Bar & Brewhouse in Yorkton.

Team Zuravloff has qualified in the Junior Provincial Men’s Curling. The team will now compete in the Provincial Juniors Men’s Playdowns in Saskatoon Dec 27-31. The team is one of the top 12 teams competing for the Saskatchewan junior men’s title.

As we prepare to close the book on one year it always seem the appropriate time to gaze ahead to the new year which is about to begin.

Yorkton Minor Hockey was busy playing games all week, with games in different categories bringing hockey excitement to the Farrell Agencies Arena and the Kinsmen Arena.
