The Yorkton Terriers are looking to rebuild a dwindling fan base. The first step in that process was announced last Wednesday at the team’s awards’ banquet.

The Yorkton Lions AA Midget Terriers are on their way to the league final in the AA Midget Division of the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

Yorkton Regional High School (YRHS) hosted a small-scale basketball exhibition tournament over the weekend. Teams from Saskatchewan and Manitoba competed over Mar. 10 and 11.

The 66th annual Sturgis ice carnival featured the Sturgis Figure Skating Club and its achievements throughout the year. The carnival showcased the theme, Olympic Dreams at the Sturgis Skating Arena on March 3.

The Neal Watkins rink of Swan River won the Benito Open Mixed Bonspiel which wsas played February 13 to 18 at the Benito Rec Centre among 28 rinks.

Members of the Kamsack branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, who were successful in hunting and fishing during the past year, were recognized on February 24 during the group’s annual awards banquet.

Sask Volleyball hosted the 16U Men’s Booster Juice Cup in Yorkton. Teams from across the province came to the city to participate in the tournament. Tier 1 Gold was won by the Regina Volleyball Club Green team.

The Yorkton Terriers dropped both ends of a home-and-home set with rival Melville in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action on the weekend.

The Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers are off to a one-game-to-none lead in their second round playoff series in the AA Midget Division of the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

The youngest hockey players in the city were competing in their own annual tournament on the weekend, making friends and improving skills.
