It was two more games, two more losses for the Yorkton Terriers. The losses left the Terriers with a record of 8-29-2-1 for 19 points and the basement in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Viterra Division.

The Yorkton Kinsmen AA Midget Terriers rolled up an 8-1 win Saturday and 7-2 win Sunday at the Farrell Agencies Arena over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.

Twenty Kamsack district youngsters who are interested in basketball will be able to participate in a 12-week program being offered in the community by the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The Joe Yacyshyn rink of Preeceville topped the Preeceville Seniors Bonspiel held the week of January 9-12. Team members included, Nick Bodnar, Darrell Laughren and Mary Pasiechnik. There was a total of 15 entries attracted to the bonspiel.

Court action welcomes seven teams to LCBI

Two former hockey players from Saskatchewan have been in the news, one, Johnny Bower sadly on his passing, and the other Fred Sasakamoose who has been recognized for his contribution to the game.

The Yorkton Terriers were in Weyburn to face the Red Wings Saturday in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League action. After a scoreless first period the Wings took a lead in the second as Erik Olson struck on the powerplay at the 16:57 mark.

Young athletes from Yorkton, Melville, and Esterhazy will be competing at the Saskatchewan Winter Games (SWG) at North Battleford February 18-24. They’ll be curling, bowling, figure skating, and competing in 14 other sports.
