Three young Yorkton hockey players are in Calgary this week as they compete in the U16 WHL Cup. Austin Dycer, Jackson Berezowski and Ryder Korczak were selected to play for Team Saskatchewan.

It was another tough week of hockey for the Yorkton Terriers. Their last two games have resulted in two losses for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team. Last Tuesday, they hosted the Estevan Bruins at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

After a two-week break in midget AAA game action, the Yorkton RawTec Maulers hit the ice again last weekend in a two-game series against the Beardy’s Blackhawks. The two teams would end up splitting the series, each taking one victory.

Four Preeceville School athletes finished in the top 10 of their age category at the East Central District Athletic Association cross-country district meet held in Yorkton on October 5.

The Canora Composite School (CCS) has two junior girls volleyball teams for the coming season, both of which competed in a tournament hosted by CCS on September 29 and 30. A total of 10 teams played in the tournament.

Zoe Flaman led the Yorkton Regional High School cross-country team at provincials last weekend, beating 62 other runners to earn a gold medal in her junior girls race. The provincial competition took place in Turtleford, SK.

The Yorkton Regional High School senior boys football team came out on top of the regular season of the Moose Jaw High School Football League last week with a flawless finish.

The Preeceville Panthers battled hard but came up short with a loss of 36 to 14 against Watrous during a home game on October 5.

It’s an important season for the Yorkton Kinsmen Terriers midget AA team as they look to defend their provincial title.

Last Thursday marked another domination by the Yorkton Regional High School senior boys’ football team. The Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings were in town and the game was held at Century Field. The Raiders took the win 57-0.
