With football season well under way, the Yorkton Minor Football teams have working hard in the Regina Minor Football league.

The Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) in partnership with the University of Regina Cougars Women’s Hockey Team held the Eighth Annual Mandi Schwartz Challenge September 21 to 24 at the Cooperators Centre in Regina.

Preeceville School athletes have been working hard towards their goal of representing their school at all cross-country meets held this fall.

Cross-Country practice at Canora Composite School (CCS) started on September 6, and students have since participated in two cross-country meets.

It was a busy weekend for members of Skate Yorkton. Madison Bowtell represented Saskatchewan at the 2017 Sask. Skate in Regina in the U12 juvenile ladies. She won this event skating to a personal best score.

Sacred Heart High School travelled to Nipawin on Sept. 29-30 for the L.P. Miller Bear’s volleyball tournament. The tournament consisted of eight teams. Pool A consisted of Nipawin, Tisdale, PA St. Mary’s 2 and Humboldt.

The brand new Bredenbury Tundra junior C hockey club held its fall camp last weekend. They now prepare for their inaugural season in the Qu’appelle Valley Hockey League.

Last weekend acted as a big learning curve for the Yorkton Terriers. The hockey club faced the Estevan Bruins in a two-game series. The first game was in Estevan on Friday night, and the Bruins dominated the play, causing the Terriers to lose 8-1.

The Yorkton Regional High School senior boys football team improved their record to 3-0 last weekend after dominating the field against Swift Current.

The Yorkton Regional High School senior boys volleyball team is off to a strong start this season. The team is made up of almost all grade 10 students, with one grade 9 and one grade 11. This makes them a very young team.
