The Yorkton Storm Swim Club sent five swimmers to the Saskatoon Goldfins Winter Classic Meet this past weekend. The meet was set up in conjunction with the Regina Optimist Dolphins Swim Club.

Students on the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute senior girls basketball team are optimistic that they will be able to do this year what four of them did two years ago: qualify for Hoopla, the provincial high school basketball championship.

The Tim Olson rink of Preeceville, with Jess Olson (third), Ralph Ager (second) and Denise Olson (lead), won the annual Stenen Open Bonspiel which ran from January 31 to February 7. There were 16 rinks registered for the bonspiel.

The KCI senior mixed curling team returned from the District competition in Yorkton on February 6, clutching the bonspiel’s silver medal.

Every month in Canada, over 850,000 Canadian citizens require the services of food banks in order to stave off hunger. Locally, the Yorkton Soup Haven feeds, on average, 250 school children per day. The latter is the inspiration for the M.C.
