Figure skating and Ukrainian dance were among the activities starting their new seasons that were discussed by the Norquay Recreation Board at its regular meeting on September 14.

The Kamsack Skate Park has received funding from the Canada Post Community Foundation. On Friday, Glady Achtymichuk, postmaster at the Kamsack Post Office, presented a cheque of $2,500 to Kev Sumner, Kamsack recreation director.

The senior football game between the Kamsack Spartans and the Preeceville Panthers on September 16, which was the Spartans’ first game of the season, was an exciting start to the season.

Reasons to be trained in karate are numerous, Rachel Martinuik, president of the Kamsack Karate Club, said last week as she encouraged people to consider registering for another season of instruction.

The Government of Saskatchewan is once again offering the Community Rink Affordability Grant to communities across the province. The Government of Saskatchewan is committing $1.7 million to the grant program in 2015.

The Sacred Heart Saints opened up their 2015 SHSAA Nine-man football season this past Friday with a road game under the lights in Foam Lake, falling to the host Panthers 36-0.

Eight local golfers – four from Sacred Heart and four from the Regional – competed at the 2015 Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association (SHSAA) Grass Golf Provincial Championships this past weekend at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course in Yorkton.
