A group of local slo-pitch players will be heading to Kamloops, B.C., next week to compete at the 2015 Kamloops National Championship slo-pitch tournament.

The season is now over for the Parkland Expos midget ‘AA’ team.

The City of Yorkton was invaded by roaring, scream inducing monsters this past weekend. However they weren’t your usual monsters.

Chuckwagon and chariot races were the highlight of the Preeceville Lions Club Western Weekend on July 10 to 12. The races were threatened by a few rain clouds but avid fans waited through the rain to watch the races.

A co-ed slo-pitch tournament on July 11, during the Preeceville Lions Western Weekend, attracted 13 teams. Dig Deep defeated CTK to win the A side and Westside defeated Renslip for the win on the B side.

The Yorkton Cardinals were seven-and-three in their last 10 Western Major Baseball League games, pushing the team into second spot in the Saskatchewan Division. Weyburn leads the Division, seven games atop the Cards.

The Yorkton Orioles have been named the 2015 Twilite Maxi Provincial champions after their 2015 ‘A’ Side final opponents were stripped of their title for using an illegal player.

Jaden Porte, a local track and field athlete from Yorkton, recently took part in the Canadian National Track and Field Championships that were held in Edmonton, Alberta, from July 4-5.
