The Preeceville School gymnasium has undergone some changes the last few years with the most recent change being a new hardwood fl oor. The project started June 22 with completion slated for sometimes during the summer prior to the new school season.

The Sandy Beach slopitch tournament and family picnic was held on June 20 at Sandy Beach located eight miles northwest of Norquay with 10 teams participating. All the teams were local with the exception of teams from Hudson Bay and Canora.

Last week the 2015 Canora Minor Baseball Association season officially concluded. Uniforms and equipment were turned in and put into storage for the next season.

The Yorkton Cardinals are in a log jam in the Saskatchewan Division of the Western Major Baseball League. The Cardinals have a 9-14 record to sit in fourth spot, one game up on Swift Current and 2.5 games behind third place Moose Jaw.

The Yorkton Yankees had a relatively slow week in the SESBL playing just one game this past week, handing the rival Willowbrook Royals a 2-0 defeat on Saturday afternoon at Yorkton’s Jubilee Park.

It was a weekend that both the Parkland Expos’ ‘AAA’ and ‘AA’ teams would like to forget as the two teams combined to go 0-4 on the weekend with three shutout losses in total.

The Yorkton Pirates Tennis Club will be hosting a series of youth clinics this summer in the hopes of improving the interest of tennis among Yorkton youth ahead of the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games.
