It seemed as if everything was going well for Yorkton’s Steve Laycock during the men’s final of the Canadian Open at the Gallagher Centre on Sunday afternoon.

This past weekend was opening weekend for Asessippi. With the warmer temperatures, many made it out to the hill to ski and snowboard. New additions to Asessippi this year is the 650 foot snow carpet and an automated spa.

The Yorkton Sno-Riders are celebrating an anniversary in 2015, and club president Jason Popowich appeared before the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday looking for some support.

The Sacred Heart Saints senior boys’ basketball team visited Moosomin last weekend for their first tournament action of the season and returned home with the ‘B’ side title.

There were many questions left unanswered after the YRHS Raiders’ 2014 football season was ended unceremoniously at the hands of the eventual 3A Provincial champion A.E. Peacock Tornadoes on Saturday, November 1 in Moose Jaw.

Sixteen teenaged curlers, eight from Yorkton Regional and eight more from Sacred Heart, were out on the Yorkton Curling Club ice Saturday afternoon for the opportunity to practice with professional curlers.

The YRHS senior boys’ basketball team travelled to Saskatoon this past weekend to compete in the fourth annual Chargers Charity Classic held at Centennial High School in Saskatoon.

Each month a male and a female student is selected as the SHHS Saint of the Month. Saint of the Month students are nominated by staff and students of SHHS.

The third stop on the Grand Slam of Curling tour is the Canadian Open, which started yesterday right here in Yorkton, SK, and boasts 32 of the world’s top curling teams; 16 female and 16 male.
