The Yorkton Regional High School senior boys football team is on the verge of doing something that they haven't done in a long time. They have opened the season at 2-0.

About 40 locals took part in the recent Queen City Marathon. Megan Varga and Cheryl Kustra were part of the Yorkton brigade that came home with medals around their necks. "I trained three times per week," says 12-year-old Varga.

Lady Saints soccer team hosted their annual soccer tournament Friday and Saturday. They hosted an 8 team tournament consisting of 2A and 3A schools. The Lady Saints opened the tournament with a 12-0 victory over Regina Luther.

Last week it was the girls. This week it was the boys' turn. The Saints hosted the Raiders Friday afternoon in the first of a bunch of Raider/Saints showdowns this season, this one switched venues to the HaloDome.

The Yorkton Terriers will start the season Friday against the Weyburn Red Wings and will play next Friday against the Humboldt Broncos. Both games are at the Farrell Agencies Arena and are 7:30 p.m. starts.
