One moment Turner Ottenbreit was coming home from a SMAAAHL road trip with his Yorkton Harvest teammates and trying to finish an essay for high school, the next moment he was in vehicle on his way to Saskatoon.

Most people in Canada will be glued to their television sets this Christmas season watching Team Canada at the World Juniors in Malmo, Sweden and threatening anyone who might even contemplate grabbing the remote and changing channels.

School was in session at Sacred Heart on Wednesday night as the Grandview Spartans roared into the Halo Dome and taught the host Senior Lady Saints a basketball lesson, stomping the home side 57-24 in exhibition basketball action.

The Yorkton Terriers had struggled through a short, three-game losing streak in which they had allowed 14 goals, but last Tuesday they put a definitive end to the streak.

The Yorkton Sherring Gold Pee Wee Terriers showed why they are the class of the South Sask. Minor Hockey League over the weekend, destroying the visiting Estevan Sherritt Coal Bruins 17-3 on Saturday and 7-1 on Sunday at the Kinsmen Arena.

On Wednesday the Yorkton Bantam 'AA' UCT Terriers traveled to Pilot Butte to take on the league leading Prairie Storm in hopes of avenging Sunday's 2-0 loss that snapped the Terriers 10 game winning streak.

Ten members of the Yorkton Storm Swim Club (YSSC) recently competed in their second meet of the season. The club attended the "Fall Freeze Out" in Moose Jaw. Overall the team did very well returning home with sixteen top three performances.

The Yorkton Terriers are on another streak, but this time it's on the wrong side of the ledger losing three in-a-row. And along the way the Terriers allowed 14 goals.

Yorkton's own Kylie Chupa, a product of both the McSweeney's Selects Volleyball team and the Sacred Heart Saints Volleyball programme, helped the SIAST Kelsey Amaruks win a treble this past volleyball season.

Sacred Heart's Halo Dome played host to an exhibition basketball tournament this past weekend. A tournament that saw both the YRHS Raiders and SHHS Saints Senior Boys basketball teams finish with a 2-1 record.
