The Sacred Heart High School (SHHS) Saints boys soccer team are off to the 2A Saskatchewan High School Championships in Warman this Friday and Saturday after qualifying with a win over Vanier High School in Moose Jaw, says SHHS coach Scott Hoffort.

The YRHS senior boys volleyball team brought home a first-place finish from a tournament this past weekend in Estevan, reports YRHS coach Dion Pfeifer. Yorkton went 4-0 through their round robin matches.

The YRHS football teams have both advanced to the next round of the playoffs. The juniors team has won two straight games and are scheduled to meet the Raiders next on Oct. 28 at 2 p.m., at Liebel Field.

Saturday (Oct. 6), 2012 came to be a very special Thanksgiving gift for approximately 40 Yorkton Minor Hockey Novice-aged players plus the coaches and parents.

The local stock car racers finished their season late in September at the Yellowhead International Speedway. Racers were recognized for race accomplishment and overall accomplishments throughout the season.

The AAA Yorkton Harvest Hockey Club headed out on the road for the first time this season, making a stop in Tisdale, where they were stopped with a 2-1 decision that went into overtime.

Perry Enns and the Sacred Heart Lady Saints senior volleyball team are just about ready for the upcoming regional and conference play in the weeks ahead.

The Yorkton Terriers came out on top in a trio of games in the past week, and sit atop the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League Sherwood Conference as a result of it.

After outscoring the opposition by a 20-1 margin over the course of the tournament, the Sacred Heart team advanced to provincials with two wins on their home pitch Saturday afternoon.
