The Yorkton Harvest continued into the new year with a game at the Willow Cree Memorial Sport Centre at Beardy's on Saturday afternoon.

April 20 - Minor football announces expansion to the atom level. April 27 - Yorkton's Suzanne Mitchell competes for a position on the TaeKwonDo Olympic referee team. Sacred Heart High School does well at the badminton districts.

The annual New Year's tradition of Yorkton and Melville hooking up in a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League home-and-home set went the Millionaires' way in 2012, winning both contests.

New Year's almost wouldn't be New Year's without this game. Thank God for the World Junior Hockey.

The Yorkton UCT Terriers bantam hockey team hosted Melville at the Kinsmen Arena on Dec. 21. Five different players found the back of the net including a late goal, to send the game into extra time, tied at 5-5. Overtime solved nothing.

Designed to ignite and reflect local communities' passion for the game of hockey, Kraft Hockeyville is immensely popular with Canadians.

Josh 'Nano' Moreira won the Student of Distinction award in October. "This is the first time they ever awarded it," points out Roby Sharpe, students activity advisor at the Regional High School.

About 16 students turned out Dec. 19 for the 4th Annual Yorkton Regional High School Big Buck horn measuring day.

B3Xtreme Sports in Yorkton will be creating a Ambition/B3 snowskate team this winter. Ambition is a company that sells snowskates and issued a press release recently that they will be sponsoring a local snowskate team.
