The Yorkton Cross Country Ski Club was able to take advantage of a specialized snow removal machine when they officially opened up the trails at the Deer Park Municipal Golf Course over the weekend.

The Yorkton Cross Country Ski Club celebrated the beginning of a new phase for the club on Sunday afternoon at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course, with a ribbon-cutting by Mayor of Yorkton, James Wilson to make it official.

The Yorkton Pee Wee Tier II hockey tournament was held over the weekend. Host arenas were the Farrell Agencies Arena and the Kinsmen Arena. All teams were guaranteed four games and games featured one 15-minute period and two 20-minute periods.

The Cab Clothing Yorkton Regional High School Male Athlete of the Month for October is Grey McKen, who starred on both the junior and senior football teams in the summer/fall. He was also named a co-captain on the junior team.

The Yorkton Terriers played three games on the road in the past week picking up a pair of Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League wins. Terrier coach Trent Cassan said it was a good week for the team.

The Yorkton Regional High School wrestling team travelled to Prince Albert on Jan. 7 to compete in the Prince Albert Small Communities Invitational during Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association (SHSAA) wrestling action.

B3Xtreme Sports in Yorkton will be creating a Ambition/B3 snowskate team this winter. Ambition is a company that sells snowskates and issued a press release recently that they will be sponsoring a local snowskate team.

The Yorkton Harvest continued into the new year with a game at the Willow Cree Memorial Sport Centre at Beardy's on Saturday afternoon.
