In provincials girls' bantam hockey action, the Springside Parkland Lions' girls' hockey team played Weyburn in two games on Feb. 25 and Feb. 22 and won both games.

The Cab Female Athlete of the Month is a member of the senior girls basketball team. Actually, this athlete was a key member of the senior girls volleyball team and provincial bronze medal girls soccer team.

A local Pee Wee hockey team travelled to Quebec for 10 days this month. "It was really fun," offered goaltender Alex Geddes. "It was a big city, an old city, with lots of one-way streets," recalled McKenzie Welke.

Their best of three playoff series got off to a pretty good start unfortunately the same could not be said about the finish.

The annual hockey game fundraiser is set for March 21. The staff of both Yorkton high schools will face off against the students in a fun game at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Three Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association (SHSAA) high school provincial curling championships will be contested this coming weekend, March 2-4, 2012.

The Yorkton United U8 Blazers attended Winterfest in Regina Jan. 27 - 29. This was their second tournament of the season and once again the Blazers showed off their talents and composure and brought home the gold medal.

The 2012 Yorkton Farrell Agencies/Ottenbreit Sanitation Initiation tournament will be held at the Farrell Agencies Arena and Kinsmen Arena on March 3-4, 2012.

Coach Darrell Sobkow and his Clean Spot novice hockey team are getting ready for upcoming playoff action. On Feb. 27 they head to Langenburg. On Feb. 29., they play the Thorsness novice Terriers at the Yorkton Kinsmen Arena.

The Cab Clothing Yorkton Regional High School Male Athlete of the Month for November is Jason Blommaert. A Gr. 12 student who has maintained a good academic average, has special interest in both construction and welding.
