The year end review is the feature of the sports section printed during the last week of the calendar year. It features small tidbits of the year in sports, as seen throughout the year in Yorkton This Week.

B3Xtreme Sports in Yorkton will be creating a Ambition/B3 snowskate team this winter. Ambition is a company that sells snowskates and issued a press release recently that they will be sponsoring a local snowskate team.

The Cab Male Athlete of the Month was a very busy athlete this fall at Sacred Heart. Anthony Fetsch played on the boys' soccer team and was a dominant force as SHHS went into a shootout for provincial gold with Evan Hardy of Saskatoon.

As the final days of the calendar quickly pass by maybe now would be a good time to look back at some of the best and worst deals made over the course of the past 12 months as I put together my newsprint version of SportCentre's Year in Review.

The road thus far has been rather sweet for the Springside Parkland Lions bantam 'A' girls' hockey team and they found out over the weekend that home ice is too.

This week I'm back looking at discs from Latitude 64, a company out of Sweden which has some fine offerings including the Halo, Vision and Fuse which were reviewed in this space back in August.

In preparation for the Christmas holidays, the Sacred Heart basketball teams held a tournament over the weekend for the senior and junior teams from around the area.

The Yorkton UCT Terriers played two games over the weekend, one at home and one away. On Sunday afternoon, in a game against the Regina Hurricanes, a three-goal first period output saw Yorkton squeak out a 4-2 win.

The Yorkton Storm Speed Swim Club took to the water last week to kick off their season by hosting their annual swim meet. According to meet manager, Trevor Baker there were over 657 entries in the meet this year.

Tyler Boychuk of the Yorkton Regional High School is one of a handful of students who goes from one sport to another during the course of the high school year.
