Edwin (Ed) Lee Broadway was born January 21, 1927 at home near Golconda, Illinois. At age seventeen Ed joined the U.S. Navy and received the WW II Victory Medal for his navy service.

Myrtle Simpson, former resident of Yorkton and Theodore, widow of the late Jack Simpson, passed away on February 14, 2018 at the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson. She was 97 years of age.

Paul Holowatuik passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home on the farm in the R.M. of Ituna Bon Accord at the age of 82. Paul was born on December 27, 1935 and grew up on the family farm along Hardrock Road.

Two youths who plead guilty to second degree murder were given the maximum youth sentence in Yorkton Provincial Court on February 21.

Dear Editor: After the tremendous tax increase last year, I am very surprised that city management and council want another tax increase. Taxes are up, insurance rates are up, utility rates are up, vacancy rates are up, and property values are down.

The public received its first look at the 2018 City of Yorkton budgets when both the operating and capital sides of the document were unveiled at the regular meeting of Council Jan. 29.

Ronald James Boehm passed away suddenly in his home on February 21, 2018 at the age of 69. Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Marie Boehm, as well as his siblings, Helmut, Raymond, Clarence, Wilmer, Ruth and Fred.

Tom Bates, beloved husband of Nettie of Yorkton, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 84 years of age.
