Property taxes are likely to increase in Yorkton again in 2018. Monday the public was given its first look at the City’s operating and capital budgets as they were unveiled at the regular meeting of City Council.

The Yorkton Chamber of Commerce has selected its new president. Mike Popowich is going to lead the Chamber in 2018. Popowich previously served as vice-president in 2017 and as an events coordinator. Popowich is also the co-owner of TA Foods Inc.

The Saskatchewan Party has chosen its new leader, and the province’s new Premier. After five ballots, Scott Moe took the leadership race with 53.87 per cent of the vote, over Alanna Koch with 46.13 per cent.

City Council unveiled a first look at this year’s capital and operating budget at its regular meeting Monday. And once again Yorkton taxpayers will be looking at a hike in what they pay in property taxes.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Addison Barton of Yorkton, SK on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the age of 65 years. Bob was born on August 7, 1952 to Richard and Margaret Barton in Lestock, SK.

Joy Isabelle 1922 - 2018. Joy passed away peacefully at her home in Kelowna in the early morning of January 12.
