An updated Property Standards Bylaw was given unanimous passage of both second and third reading at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.

The City of Yorkton officially unveiled its brand-new parking meters on Monday, making them fully operational.

The final sentencing in a 2016 home invasion happened in Yorkton Provincial Court on Friday, January 5. Taylor Peequaquat was the last of the five individuals in the case to be sentenced.

Doris Babiuk was born on March 13, 1923 in Two Hills, AB; a daughter of Alec and Lena (nee Luciak) Carek and her stepmother Mary (nee Eliuk) Carek. In 1928 she moved to Saskatchewan, she attended the Luzan School.

Mary Baylak (nee Penteluk), late of Yorkton, formerly of Foam Lake, passed away on January 3, 2018 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 87 years of age.

Louise met Stanley, her husband, on November 18, 1958 while she was working at Regina General Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Stanley was admitted to the isolation wing and as they say...it was love right from the start.

Jean Holland, longtime Bredenbury resident, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Lakeside Manor Care Home in Saltcoats. She was 95 years of age.

Alice Derow, beloved wife of the late of Clarence Derow passed away peacefully at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK, on December 31, 2017, at the age of 82 years.
