Yorkton This Week

The Hvidston family knows why the province needs a dedicated children’s hospital, but they hope they’re not going to have to use it.

The Yorkton Terriers Junior Hockey Club are seeking billets for the 2017-18 season. Each new hockey season the Yorkton Terriers welcome new and returning players to the city of Yorkton to play for this great organization.

Last weekend, the Yorkton E&S Yankees hosted the Baseball Sask senior men’s tier II provincials at Jubilee Park. The Border City Blue Jays captured the provincial title after beating the Oxbow Chiefs in the final 7-0.

Team Sask concludes the 2017 Canada Summer Games with 35 podium performances and multiple historic finishes.

KOPAN - Mrs. Sylvia Kopan of Yorkton, formerly of the Insinger district, beloved wife of the late Walter Kopan, entered eternal rest on August 5, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.

PHIPPS - George Charles Phipps. August 20, 1956 - August 7, 2017.

TORRIE - It is with deep sadness that the family of Ronald "Ron" John Torrie announce his passing on Thursday, August 3, 2017. He was 67 years of age. Ron was born on October 14, 1949 in Yorkton, SK, the eldest son of William and Alma Torrie.

NAYKO - Adella Martha Nayko. December 20, 1930 - July 3, 2017. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother on July 3.

SARANTOPOULOS - Peter was born on September 11, 1942 in a small town in Southern Greece called Pilos to George and Helen (nee Sumas) Sarantopoulos. Peter has three brothers and one sister. From an early age Peter showed signs of being adventurous.
